Oh, I’m nervous! I’m cooking a ham in coca cola tonight, a la Nigella Lawson. I got a “pickling pork” which is the same as a “gammon” as far as I can tell. When you boil it and cook it through, it becomes a “ham”.
But it’s boiling away, and I guess it’s what makes the coke so dark, but there’s black speckles of stuff over the onion and the sides of the pot! But it’s simmering away, and I’ve done what Nigella suggested (which was bring the meat to the boil in a pot of cold water, and then drain it – I’m glad I did because a heap of gross scum came out of the ham!) so in an hour and a half it should be done. I’m letting it cool overnight, and glazing it tomorrow.
It doesn’t stop me from being nervous!!!
